Where is Waldo?

Alice: White Rabbit, why do you keep asking me, "where is Waldo?"

White Rabbit: Because God is kind of like Waldo. He likes to hide in plain sight in the midst of things. You got to ask yourself, "where is Waldo?", and then you got to go look for Him! God is hiding all around us, right here, out in the open!

Alice: Oh!

White Rabbit: God hides everywhere, just like Waldo. He's comfortable in all kinds of situations among all sorts of people. Some people think that when you go searching for God you need to look for him in churches, because that's where God prefers to hang out. But nothing could be further from the truth! Because just like Waldo, God can be found everywhere! He's an everywhere, everyday man - or woman! You just have to ask yourself, "where is Waldo in this situation? Could it be him? Or her? Could it be that right now Waldo is hiding in this person's words and speaking directly to me about something important that I need to know?!"

He often is.

Alice: That's funny!

White Rabbit: Waldo hides everywhere. In the midst of a sea of stuff and junk, things and people and life. Look closely, weed through the junk, and you just might see a corner of his shirt! He especially likes to hide in people's words. The kind of words that are rooted in love, wisdom and knowledge. Words that build and don't destroy. Or! Sometimes words that destroy! If there's a lie in you that needs to come down! God is constantly looking for ways to heal you in that way, and talks to you words of healing through all kinds of people. He reaches to you through people. It doesn't matter who the speaker is! It could even be a donkey! Remember that Bible story?(Nu 22:26 -35) Waldo can hide inside anyone's words! No one is an exception! God hides in you too! Inside your imagination! Look around you, Waldo is hiding on this website too. Just ask yourself, "Where is Waldo?" Can you see him? Can you spot him?

Alice: But how do I know I've found Waldo - well, God - how can I be sure it's really him?

White Rabbit: When you find Waldo, it just feels right. It's a puzzle piece that just fits inside of you. It locks into place perfectly. All the gears in you shift IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.

Alice: What's the right direction?

White Rabbit: Anything that makes you more whole, anything that heals your emotions, anything that builds your love. When you expand, when you grow, when you move closer to Heaven. These are the things that come from God's hand.

Alice: But White Rabbit, what if I think I've spotted Waldo, but make a mistake? What if I go look for him inside of me, and others, and think I see him waving at me somewhere, but it's not him? What if it's my own madness talking to me - or worse - the deceiver, the devil?

White Rabbit: Ahh! Fear! Did God give you a spirit of fear, Alice? Did he really? Don't you know that perfect love drives out fear? (1 Jn 4:18) Alice! Don't be afraid of the stuff and junk when you go look for Waldo! Yes it's there, of course it's there! And of course you'll make mistakes here and there, and be off in your evaluation every now and then. But that's how you grow! With practice. There is no other way to grow! And there's no other way to find Waldo than by fearlessly diving into the sea of stuff and junk and people and TRUSTING that God will help you find your way...This is the way to do it, with TRUST, because when you navigate life like that, when you fearlessly ask "where is Waldo?" then God will send you help. He'll send you clues

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! (Mt 7:7 - 11)

Do you trust Him Alice?

Alice: Yes...

White Rabbit: Well then!

Alice: But White Rabbit. Why does God hide himself like that, in plain sight, in the midst of stuff and junk and people?

White Rabbit: God likes to travel incognito - in disguise. Just like Waldo. It's useful for him, because it's an excellent way for him to accomplish his goals. It's good that you have to work a little in order to find him. It does marvelous things to your soul! It's a proven method. Look in the Bible and notice it operating there? Where was the Messiah born? Not in a king's palace, but quite the contrary, he hid himself in a dirty stall. In the last last place where people would go look for Him. But it was all prophesied in the scriptures, wasn't it? And people read the scriptures, and still the truth was hidden from many of them, in plain sight. So what did it take to find Waldo? It took some faith, it took some clear, innocent eyes to see Waldo in that situation. It took some courage too! Because when you ask yourself, "where is Waldo?" the truth is that he's usually not where everyone expects him to be.
